Bikini contest for a cause

August 19th, 2009, 10:55 am by Laylan Connelly, staff writer

Surfrider Foundation held a fundraiser party at Chronic Cantina last Sunday, featuring everything from a dunk tank, a mechanical surf board, a bikini contest to a hula hoop contest.

“Overall it was successful, and people are looking forward to next year’s Surfrider event! In this hard economy, people still paid the $15 to support a good cause, while having a good time,” according to event planner Raquel Figlo.

July 26th, 2008, 5:36 pm by Laylan Connelly, staff writer

If you’ve ever been down to the U.S. Open of Surfing, you know there’s a lot of skin showing everywhere. Girls strut their stuff in bikinis, dudes stroll around without a shirt.

The body becomes a canvas here — and a marketing tool– with a lot of people getting body art throughout the day courtesy of various companies trying to get the word out on their products.

But then there’s also those people inked up with artwork that won’t be rubbing off.

Can you tell the difference?
