The Huntington Beach native is back in 2009 after completing his first full season after recovering from a horrific knee injury in Steamer Lane in Santa Cruz, CA, where he tore both the ACL and MCL in his right knee. The hard-working, natural-footer earned the ASP Wildcard for the 2008 season after he was unable to compile the points needed to requalify for the tour due to the injury. Reyes took full advantage of the opportunity this year, finding himself back on tour once again.
Reyes’ fearlessness in big waves, combined with his refined skill in the small stuff, makes him a dangerous competitor. Reyes finished 11th overall in 2006 and with a fully-healed knee and a few years under his belt on tour, rebounded to No. 16 in 2008. With a full barrage of moves and extensive experience at the elite level of competition, Reyes appears ready to emerge as a top contender in 2009.
