Surfboard shapers to be honored at Doho

A group of surfboard shapers will be honored at the 10th annual International Surfboard Builders Hall of Fame at 10 a.m. Dec. 5 at Doheny State Beach. 

 
This years inductees include Barry Bennett, Barry Kanaiaupuni, Phil Becker, Bob “Ole” Olson, Mike Doyle, and Huntington Beach’s own  Delbert “Bud” Higgins.
 
The International Surfboard Builders hall of Fame was started by Bob “the Greek” Bolen and his good friend Mike “Mickey Rat” Ester in 2000 to honor the inductees for their lifetime contributions to the Surfing Industry.  In order to be inducted into this prestigious organization, you must be chosen by a previous inductee.
 
Some of the past ISBHOF inductees include Bill Holden,Dale Velzy, Gordon “Gordie” Duane, Hobie Alter, Greg Noll, Hap Jacobs, Bing Copeland, Renney Yater, Duke Kahanamoku, Bob Simmons, and George Downing just to name a few.
 
The event is held every year at Doheny State Beach in conjunction with the Long Board Collectors Club Club.  Come join “Greek” and “Mickey Rat” and enjoy the ceremonies, and the many vintage surfboards that will be on display there. 

Parking is $10.
