The 2009 Billabong Pro Mundaka event is finally back on today after a week without waves.
The 8th stop of the ASP World Championship Tour started back up Monday morning to finish the final eight heats of Round 1 and move onto the Round of 2.
The surf finally picked up a bit, but unfortunately the world’s best surfers had compete in fairly chewed up two to three foot waves at a spot called Sopelana before moving back to Mundaka for the start of Round 2.
Some of the competitors going home early after losing in Round 1 included: Huntington Beach’s Timmy Reyes, Oxnard’s Nathaniel Curran, Aussies Josh Kerr and Jay “Bottle” Thompson and Hawaii’s Dustin Barca.
Moving on to Round 2 is San Clemente’s Chris Ward and Aussies Dean Morrison and Mick Campbell. The 2009 Billabong Pro Mundaka official waiting period wraps up on Saturday, October 17th. For the latest on the event or to watch the live webcast, check out billabongpro.com.
