Aussie Owen Wright has reason to be celebrating.  The young Australian phenom just secured himself a spot on next year’s ASP World Championship Tour after a 5th place finish at the Local Motion Pro at Guaruja in Brazil.

The lanky 6′3 goofy-footer has been grabbing the attention of the surf world for quite some time, but especially in the last year. 

Wright started off 2009 focusing on the Junior Pro tour and some select ASP World Qualifying Series contests, but since then has dominated both series putting himself in 1st place on the Junior Pro rankings and currently 3rd on the WQS.

19-year old Owen Wright is known for his explosive backside attack as well as huge frontside and backside airs.  Wright’s sponsors include: Rip Curl clothing and wetsuits, Dragon Optics, FCS, Gorilla Grip and Bryne Surfboards.  Look for this ripper to do some serious damage on the 2010 Dream Tour.
