I’m a bit late on this one, but I was stoked to come back from out of the country to see that thePacSun USA Surf Team won gold this year at the World Games in Costa Rica! 

It’s a huge accomplishment for the USA team, which hasn’t won the event for more than a decade. The event is like the Olympics of surfing, with teams from around the world gathering for the 10-day event.

“I’m super proud of all the kids,” said coach Ian Cairns, a Laguna Beach resident who just signed up as head coach a few months ago.

Santa Ana’s Courtney Conlogue - who took home the women’s title at the US Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach a few weeks back - helped lead the team into victory. Here’s a story by OC Register’s Gary A. Warner.
