
Here’s what’s happening along Orange County beaches this weekend:
Orange County’s first surfing dog contest will be held starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday at Goldenwest and Pacific Coast Highway. The SurfinPaws Dog Jam will have more than 30 pooches battling it out for the title of top dog.
After party: Red carpet fashion show later that night at the Hilton in Huntington Beach.
Surfing America Summer Surf Jam
Surfing America, the National Governing Body for the sport of surfing in the United States is taking part in a huge concert Sunday. The Surfing America Summer Surf Jam is teaming up with the popular rock band 311, and special guests Ziggy Marley and The Expendables.
The Surfing America Surf Jam is a collaboration of top surf brands and surf media coming together to promote the surf industry and youth culture in Southern California and elsewhere. Funds from the event will go towards Surfing America programs.
The Summer Surf Jam happens on Sunday, and takes place at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre located at 8800 Irvine Center Drive, in Irvine. For tickets and additional info. go to surfingamerica.org/surfjam.
The 4th Annual WSA Menehune Surf Fest takes place at Goldenwest Street in Huntington Beach on Sunday July 12. For more info or contest entries, go to wsasurf.org.
If you’re a local amateur or pro competitor, then here’s a contest that you won’t want to miss. Volcom is putting on the first stop of the 2009/2010 Volcom Totally Crustaceous Surf Tour.
The Volcom events are free, but on a first come first serve basis.
