For those who have enjoyed the free parking at Trestles, those days could be over, reports Orange County Register reporter Fred Swegles.
Here’s what he wrote:
Because of California’s budget crunch and state parks’ efforts to raise revenue, San Onofre State Beach will soon begin charging $10 a day to park cars in Trestles’ 84-space public lot at El Camino Real and Cristianitos Road.

That will encourage me to purchase a yearly pass. Also, it will probably mean that there is a parking space for me when a swell event is predicted. Sometimes it is very difficult to find parking there on the weekend when we have some swell in the water. Plus, I can start going to San’O since I currently don’t want to spend $10 or buy the annual pass for the few times a year that I go to there. This is a good idea.
