The 2009 Vans Pier Classic presented by Jack’s Surfboards wrapped up today on the south side of the Huntington Beach pier after five long days of competition. It was a cold and dreary last day of action with the waves not very favorable for the competitors.
The waves ranged between knee and chest high with fairly crossed up peaky lines, but there was a steady south wind which put lots of chop on the water the majority of the day.
When it came time for the afternoon final, it was a stacked last heat made up of San Clemente’s Mike Losness, Malibu’s Dillon Perillo, Hawaii’s Hank Gaskell and Florida’s Eric Geiselman. All four surfers were ripping apart the sloppy conditions, but it was Mike Losness who took home the win with a total of 16.15 points. For additional highlights, go to aspworldtour.com
