Saturday surf report: Small and playful

March 28th, 2009, 6:47 am · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Good Saturday morning surf addicts.  Well it’s looking fairly small, but some of the better beach breaks are offering a few playful waves.  You might want to break out a fish or even possibly a log depending on where you’re paddling.

It’s mostly clean with a continued mix of minor southwest swell and a little northwest energy.  That recipe is making for some pretty crumbly sectiony lines with a few steep shoulders.

Most OC beaches are running about knee to waist high with the top combo spots pulling stomach high waves with the occasional chest high set.  Expect it to be on the inconsistent side as well.

At 11:08 later this morning the tide climbs up to a 3.9 high and then drops to a one foot low at 4:31 this afternoon.  If you’re planning on paddling, break out the 4/3 full and maybe the booties with the water temp hanging between 55 and 56 degrees.

Good luck!!
