The annual Seal Beach surf contest last weekend started its waiting period, and if the waves cooperate, the event could be held in coming weeks.
Each year, the contest benefits a local group. This year’s beneficiary is McGaugh Elementary School’s special education program.
Katin has come on as a sponsor this year. The contest, put on by the lifeguard association, brings in about 100 competitors of all ages, and awards are handed out to winners.
The contest has been going on continuously for more than a decade. If you want to participate, stop by local surf shops or lifeguard headquarters for an application.
