Surf Report 1-2-09

January 2nd, 2009, 9:26 am · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Good Friday morning surf addicts.  Well the new year is off to a slow start for surf.  Yep we’re looking at another day of weak waves.  It’s mostly clean with a minor dose of west northwest energy and a touch of southwest swell.

That’s making for some soft sectiony lines with a few workable ones if you’re on a log or a fat fish.  Most OC beaches are running about ankle to waist high with the standout spots pulling a few bigger sets.

At 6:35 a.m the tide dropped to a 2.5 low and then pushes back up to a four foot high at 11:57 later this morning and then drops again to a 0.8 low at 6:48 this evening.

If you’re gonna grab a grovel session throw on the 4/3 fullsuit and the booties with the water temp at most spots hanging between 54 and 56 degrees.

Good luck!!
