New Year’s Day Surf Report

January 1st, 2009, 8:54 am · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Happy New Year’s all you surf addicts!!  Well if you tied one on last night stay in bed!  Yep we’re off to a pretty slow start for the surf.  Once again it’s looking pretty small and weak out there.

It’s mostly clean with some fog parked along the coast which is making it difficult to see at some spots.  We’ve got a mix of some very minor west northwest swell and a touch of southwest energy.

That recipe is making for some weak peaks with a few that’ll get you going if you’re on a log or a fat fish.  Most OC beache are running about knee to waist high with the focal points pulling some stomach high plus sets.

At 11:05 a.m the tide climbs up to a 4.5 high and then drops to a 0.3 low at 6:08 this evening.  If you’re gonna get wet break out the 4/3 full and maybe the booties with the water temp at most breaks hanging between 54 and 56 degrees.

Have at it!!
