
With the blue whale season at a close, a Dana Point charter boat has reported another healthy year for the largest mammal on Earth. 
“We had a great season; there were lots of whales,” said Cpt. Dave Anderson, owner of Captain Dave’s Dolphin and Whale Safari. “We couldn’t have had a much better year.”
With the last of the blue whales spotted a few weeks ago, the final tally of blue whale sightings Anderson logged came to about 170.
That number seems down from last year’s data, but only because they got a new boat that holds more people, and were running fewer trips, Anderson said.
