I have a deep, dark secret that I’ve held onto for too long.

I’ve always wanted to try a Segway.

When Segways were first released to the world, everyone thought it was going to be the next hot thing. Skateboarders would trade their boards for one. Eco-friendly fanatics would ditch their cars. No one would ever have to walk again.

But to my dismay, they just didn’t seem to catch on.

Then, my all-time favorite show Arrested Development came out, and there was my knight in shining armor, the mighty magician G.O.B Bluth, who would help me transform the world’s perception about Segways by cruising around a mock Newport, sneaking up on people while riding the awkward-looking contraption. I cracked up every single time I saw him on that thing.

So I jumped at the chance to get on one when the folks at the Dunes Resort in the Back Bay told me about a new nature tour they were giving on Segways. Seeing nature without hiking or walking? That sounds like my kind of deal.
