San Clemente’s Shane Beschen and Cardiff’s Rob Machado were eliminated in the first two morning heats of round 2 of the Boost Mobile Pro at Lower Trestles.

Current number four Taj Burrow of Australia hammered Beschen 18.50-9.0 and picked up the event’s highest score so far, a 9.83.

Machado hasn’t had much luck at the Boost Mobile Pro and that continued this morning when he was beaten by Australia’s Bede Durbidge 15.33-12.50.

Both surfers were wildcards in the event, and though they are fan favorites in Southern California, neither has competed seriously in a few seasons.
