If you surf in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach or just about any spot in Orange County then you know what Blackball is.  If you don’t… it’s the yellow flag with a black dot in the center and it means surfers must get out of the water because of too many swimmers and bodyboarders.  But with summer coming to a close it’s likely that flag won’t be flying for much longer, especially during the week.  By the end of September you can almost guarantee that blackball won’t be posted again until June of next year or possibly during the few weeks of Spring Break.
