Newport Beach lifeguards will be holding a blood drive and barbeque from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at lifeguard headquarters on the Newport Pier. 
The Newport lifeguards are hoping to nab the Orange County Cup and Southern California Cup for the third year in a row, a competition among various agencies on who can get the most volunteers.
