Surfing Heritage Foundation puts on a display at John Wayne Airport

August 21st, 2008, 10:55 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Shawn Price

The point will be made loud and clear to people arriving in Orange County for the first time as they walk through the terminal: THIS IS SURF CENTRAL.

The Surfing Heritage Foundation and John Wayne Airport have partnered to remind everyone coming or going that there’s a century of surfing history here with an exhibit called “California’s Orange Coast: 42 Miles of Tradition and Lore.”

The exhibit will show “the development and role of surfing in each beach town along the Orange County coast,” according to the airport and uses aerial maps and photographs  to demonstrate history, surfing landmarks, people and objects of interest.

The exhibit will be on display in gates one through four and 11 through 14 in the terminal until October 27, eh, for those getting on or getting off a plane only. If you’re catching a plane, get their early and check ‘em out.
