Surf Report 8-5-08

August 5th, 2008, 6:50 am · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Good Tuesday morning surf addicts.  Well it looks like it has some potential considering there’s not much size out there.  Overall it’s on the small side up and down the coast.

It’s fairly clean with a mix of mostly minor south southwest swell and a little bit of northwest windswell.  That recipe is making for some drained out sectiony lines with a few rippable ones.  Things should definitely improve once that tide fills in later on.

Most OC beaches are running about knee to waist high with the top south facing spots pulling stomach high waves, with a few chest high plus sets.

At 6:26 a.m the tide dropped to a 0.5 low which will have many spots desperate for water early on.  The tide then climbs up to a five foot high at 12:57 this afternoon.

If you’re gonna grab a session, the most you’ll need for that morning surf is a springer with the water temp at most spots hanging between 69 and 72 degrees.

Have fun out there!!
