Surf Report 8-4-08

August 4th, 2008, 6:50 am · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Good Monday morning surf addicts.  Well there’s no need to show up to work late today.  Yep it’s looking pretty dismal and drained out.  It’s mostly clean with a minor mix of northwest windswell and a touch of remnant southerly energy.

That recipe is making for some pretty weak sectiony lines with the occasional fun one.  Look for things to improve once more water fills in.  Most OC beaches are running about knee high with the top spots pulling waist high waves, with a few stomach high plus sets.

At 5:55 a.m the tide dropped to a negative 0.1 low which will have most spots desperate for water early on.  The tide then pushes back up to a five foot high at 12:21 this afternoon.

If you’re gonna grab a session, break out no more than a springer for at least that a.m session, with that water temp hanging between a nice 69 and 71 degrees.
