Brett Simpson and Timmy Reyes continue to lead the charge for local surfers today with big victories that move them into tomorrow’s Men’s Round of 12.

This week’s U.S. Open of Surfing is turning out to be the best ever for Orange County surfers with Simpson and Reyes of Huntington Beach scoring easy wins again, Reyes beating Damien Fahrenfort 16.67-12.33 and Simpson outdueling Florida’s Eric Geiselman 14.03-13.00.

But San Clemente’s Dane Gudauskas is surfing the contest of his career, edging Laguna Niguel’s Cory Lopez 12.20-12.13.
