Surf Report 7-23-08

July 23rd, 2008, 6:53 am · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Waking up with the waves on Wednesday.  Well it looks like the surf gods are giving us another day of semi-solid action.  Yep there’s still plenty of waves, but we’re still lacking in the shape department.

It’s mostly clean with a mix of some south swell, some south southeast energy and a little southwest swell.  That recipe is making for some fast drained out fairly walled lines, with a few good makeable bowly corners.  That shape should improve once that tide fills in a little later.

Most OC beaches are running about stomach to shoulder high with the top south facing focal points hitting head high to overhead waves, with maybe a few plus sets.

At 6:58 a.m the tide drops to a 0.7 low which will have most spots needing water mid morning.  The tide then pushes back up to a 4.6 high at 12:21 this afternoon.  If you’re gonna grab some of the action, throw on a short sleeve full for at least that morning surf, with the water temp hanging between 65 and 69 degrees.
