6th Stop of the ASP WCT Still a Mystery

July 23rd, 2008, 1:08 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

The World’s best 45 surfers are still unclear where the sixth stop of the ASP World Championship Tour is going to take place.  The Rip Curl Pro Search event has always been kept a secret from the public, but this year there’s rumor  it might take place at Padang Padang in Indonesia.  However, a Taiwanese fishing boat was recently dry-docked on the reef there, causing a major oil spill.  No matter what, the contest location will be at a break that has never hosted an ASP Dream Tour contest.  Previous Rip Curl Pro Search competitions have included St. Leu on Reunion Island in 2005, “La Jolla” mainland Mexico in 2006 and El Gringo in Chile’s port town of Arica in 2007.  The official waiting period for the Rip Curl Pro Search begins July 30th and runs through August 10th 2008.  To watch the live action check out aspworldtour.com.
