Surf Report 7-20-08

July 20th, 2008, 8:30 am · 1 Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca

Good Sunday morning surfers.  Well it looks like we finally have some semi-solid swell out there, but there’s not much shape and we’re dealing with a light to moderate south southwest wind.  That’s putting a texture or decent bump on it at many spots.

As far as the waves go, we’ve got mostly south swell in the water.  That recipe is making for some fast drained out wally lines, with the occasional makeable one.  Most OC beaches are running about chest to head high with the top south facing spots pulling overhead sets.

At 5:32 a.m the tide dropped to a negative 0.5 low which still has many spots desperate for water.  The tide climbs up to a 4.2 high at 12:02 this afternoon and then drops again to a 2.2 low at 4:56 this afternoon.

If you’re gonna grab some of the action, break out a thin full or maybe a short sleever for at least that morning session with the water temp at most spots hanging between 64 and 67 degrees.
