Surfing Walk of Fame

July 19th, 2008, 6:34 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

It’s much like the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but instead of famous actors, they’re surfing icons.  This year is the 15th anniversary of the “Surfing Walk of Fame”.  There are six categories, surf pioneer, surf champion, woman of the year, surf culture, local hero and honor roll.  This years inductees include; three time World Champion Andy Irons, Wayne Lynch, Buzzy Trent, Lynn Boyer, Rich Chew, Drew Kampion and the six founders of the National Scholastic Surfing Association otherwise known as the NSSA.  The annual event to honor those who have made major contributions to the sport takes place in front of Jack’s Surfboards in Huntington Beach on the corner of PCH and Main street.  The ceremony will happen on Thursday July 24th at 10 a.m.  For more info. check out surfingwalkoffame.com.
