Lots of Talent Expected at the U-S Open of Surfing

This years 2008 Honda U-S Open of Surfing which gets underway this week has quite a list of talent. Last years winner CJ Hobgood won’t be returning, but fellow ASP World Championship Tour competitors, Taylor Knox, Chris Ward and Aussie Michael Campbell are all expected to make an appearance. Then you have an all star cast of ASP World Qualifying Series surfers including, HB local boy Shaun Ward, current WQS points leader Patrick Gudauskas, San Clemente’s Nate Yeomans and Oxnard’s Nathaniel Curran. Meanwhile, the women’s competition also has a solid list of surfers. Last years defending U-S Open winner Stephanie Gilmore and Florida’s Karina Petroni will be the two representing from the ASP dream tour. Then you have Newport Beach’s Erica Hosseini, Oxnard’s Sage Erickson and Santa Ana’s Courtney Conlogue who are all WQS standouts.
