July 7th, 2008, 5:04 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

It’s considered the World’s largest professional surf competition and in less than two weeks all action will be taking place on the southside of the Huntington Beach pier.  The Honda U-S Open of Surfing presented by O’neill will feature 500 of the sport’s hottest surfers.  The 6-Star event is North America’s highest-rated ASP World Qualifying Series contest.  The U-S Open of Surfing will feature men’s, women’s, longboarding, junior men and junior girls.  The competition has a total prize purse of $200,000.  The contest runs Friday July 18th through Sunday July 27th.  Last years U-S Open of Surfing was won by ASP World Championship Tour surfer CJ Hobgood.  To find out more, check out usopenofsurfing.com.
