Huntington Beach ripper Shaun Ward was all smiles today after the final of the 18th stop of ASP World Qualifying Series. The HB local boy took home the win and huge jump in the WQS ratings at the Local Motion Guaruja Surf Pro in Sao Paulo Brazil. The final matchup was Shaun Ward up against Brazil’s Simao Romao, but it was Ward who looked like he was surfing in his own backyard edging out the Brazilian 12.93 to 11.70. Prior to this competition Ward was sitting in 77th place on the WQS Tour, but moved all the way up to 30th. This now gives the regular footer a chance to possibly qualify for the 2009 ASP World Championship Tour. Congrats Shaun!! For more info. check out aspworldtour.com.
