It looked like a blast down at the Wedge today, where air temps were hitting 80 degrees, and surf was between 2-to 4-feet, with occasional 5-footers rolling through.
Water temps are finally inching up- at 65-67 degrees - and the water was a crystal blue, reports Wedge regular Mel Thoman.
“Added bonus… a pod of dolphins ripping the back doors and peaks. Magical Day,” wrote Thoman in an e-mail. Check out the photo he sent us over below.
Lifeguards are expecting big crowds this weekend with the heat and warmer water temps. It’s the official start to summer weekend, with kids out of school. Most lifeguards will be at full staffing this weekend.
“The water is super clear right now,” said Huntington Beach lifeguard Matt Norton. “Check the lifeguards if you want to go out in the water. It’s one of those weekends, everyone is going to come down and we’ll have a million lost children.”
