A Day to Celebrate Surfing

June 10th, 2008, 5:28 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Do you love to surf and do you enjoy hanging out at the beach?  Then how about giving back a little to mother nature.  June 20th is the official start of summer, but it’s also “International Surfing Day”.  The mission is simple…it’s a time to celebrate the sport of surfing while raising awareness about the state of our oceans, waves and beaches.  So if you’re a surfer take a little time that day to help cleanup the beach at your local break and paddle out and catch a wave.  Some of the planned beach cleanups in the OC are taking place in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach and Dana Point.  For more info. on International Surfing Day, go to surfrider.org.
