Quiksilver helped a couple of Huntington Beach High School surfers get a start in college at the school’s annual awards banquet on Monday.
The surfwear giant awarded HB surf team members Sara Taylor and A.J. Collins (seen in photo) $2,500 each for being college-minded seniors with the highest GPAs on the team.
Huntington coach Andy Verdone attended the event along with Surfline’s Sean Collins (and father of scholarship winner A.J.) Aaron Pai, Chris Saenz and Mark Reider of Huntington Surf and Sport, shaper Casey McCrystal, whose son Quinn is team captain, former U.S. Surf Team head coach Peter Townend, and filmmaker Timmy Turner.
The Huntington Beach High School is sponsored by Quiksilver, the Sugar Shack, and Dukes.
