The AVP’s top beach volleyball teams will battle away at the AVP Crocs Tour Huntington Beach Open.
Olympic gold medalists Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh lead the way, looking for momentum heading in to the Beijing Olympics this summer as well as top men’s team Phil Dallhausser and Todd Rogers. Also look for other Olympic hopefuls, Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal, Elaine Youngs, Nicole Branagh, Tyra Turner, Rachel Wacholder, Jennifer Boss and April Ross.
It will be the first Huntington Beach Open in decades without the large presence of Karch Kiraly, who retired after last season and whom was just voted into the U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame.
May-Treanor and Walsh, along with Dallhausser and Rogers will also vie for the $25,000 winner take all men’s and women’s Cuervo Gold Crown Series Final on Sunday.
The men’s final begins at 2:30 p.m. and the women’s final begins at 4 p.m. Saturday. The Cuervo Gold Crown Series Final begins at 1:30 p.m. Sunday for the men and 3 p.m. for the women. General admission for the event is $20.
