All fans of Laguna Beach’s Greg MacGillivray might want to leave work early today. Tickets for the 4 p.m. screening of his latest movie are still available.
MacGillivray, who’s career included some of the finest surfing films ever made and his “Five Summer Stories” is considered one of the two most beloved in the genre, is giving a special screening of his latest IMAX movie today as part of the Newport Beach Film Festival. The screening will be held at the IMAX theater at the Edwards Irvine Spectrum in Irvine.
“Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk 3D” is the story of his rafting trip down the Colorado River with environmentalists Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Wade Davis. It’s part rollicking adventure in a very vivid 3D and part warning of an impending water crisis in the American West. It’s narrated by Robert Redford. Definately one to check out.
Today is the only day the film can be seen in Orange County. However, it can be seen as part of its regular release in Los Angeles and San Diego counties.
Tickets for the screening are $11. Buy tickets at either the film festival box office at Edwards Big Island Cinema, Fashion Island, Newport Beach or click here.
