Swimming with sharks in HB

At any sign of a sharp fin sticking out of the water’s surface, Sam Stamy would dive straight into the shallow river, belly flopping as he snatched his pray.
Remember when we were young, and we played with dolls and baseball cards?
Apparently that’s just too dull for today’s youth. These days, they prefer shaSam Stamy clutches a small shark coming out of the Talbert Marsh.rks.
Yes, sharks.

If you want to see it first hand, click here or on the image to the right to check out the video.
I was out at Huntington State Beach with friends on Sunday, enjoying the cool ocean breeze during the blistering hot heat wave when the commotion at the Talbert Marsh river outflow started.
A handful of kids were catching sharks – anywhere from 1-to 3-feet long - letting them squirm in their hands for a few minutes, then releasing them back in the water.

Would you let your kids catch these sharks?

Dozens of others watched and screamed at the sight of the sharks, running from them. Others as young as 6 dove right in for them.
“It’s pretty fun,” Sam said. “They feel like sandpaper when you get on top of them.”
Stamy’s father Rick said that the sharks didn’t have sharp teeth (I’m still trying to confirm what kind they are), and they munch mostly on shellfish up the river.

There were dozens of the small sharks, one after another, making their way Another kid snags a shark.down to the ocean (along with a few stingrays).
“He’s totally fearless,” Rick said of Sam, who said he caught about 16 of the sharks in about an hour.
Now, let’s be clear that I am not encouraging people  to go out and start grabbing for sharks, and there’s probably laws out there against this. I just report the things going on.

I just know I wasn’t about to put my very valuable fingers near those suckers.

Prolly little sand sharks. They are timid and for the most part harmless. We have them in San Clemente too.

    Questions to be considered:

Q#1: Did Tom ever actually see a shark?

A.#1 No. (Tom has admitted that he never saw the shark that “jolted” his board). Not saying he is lying, Im saying he didnt see a shark, they are generally hard to miss while chewing your surf board….

Q#2. Did Ralf ever actually examine the board aside from perusing blurry images of large stress fracture?

No#2. No. (not at the time of press statements and claims of varification).

Q.#3. Was there any individual teeth marks, serrated scoring (scratches peculiar to white shark bites) and/or tooth fragments?

A.#3. No. (not at the time of press statements and claims of varification).

Q.#4 Was the board with pressure fracture ever examined first hand and were any forensic evidence indicative of an actual shark bite collected and documented.

Until that has occurred this event absolutely should not have been publicized as a shark attack until this has been done.

    With all due respect,
