Local Newport surfer steps up after shark attack

If you’re bored at work today, take a few minutes out to read this story I had on the front page of the Reg today. rolfes.jpg

It’s about local Newport surfer Thomas Rolfes, who happened to be on a remote island in Fiji when one of the natives was brought into the place he was staying at after a shark attack. It’s pretty amazing how Rolfes responded - hope you enjoy, the story has had a ton of great feedback.

The set up is a bit funky - make sure you click “continue reading on page 2,” to um, continue reading on page 2.   Also, don’t miss the photo slideshow on page one, it shows the bitten arm and the secret surf break they went to go visit.

Ha - and I’ve already gotten a few e-mails… nope, Rolfes wouldn’t tell me where the surf spot is!
