“That will be the one you’ll be taking home,” quipped Don Franken, spokesman for the Newport Boat Show.
About 330 luxury vessels are being shined up today for the kick off for the 35th annual Newport Boat Show, the largest boat show in the water on the West Coast.

Early potential buyers have already been checking out the goods, even though the show doesn’t officially start until noon on Wednesday.

Sixty percent of the boats are new this year.

“This year, there’s more boats than there ever has been,” he said. “There’s so much new inventory, it’s really exciting.
Franken said the slow down in the economy hasn’t hurt the big-boat market.

While there are some fishing and sailing boats, the majority of the boats are priced from $25,000 to $7 million. The biggest boat is at about 98 feet long.

The show starts at noon on Wednesday, then again at 10 a.m. on Thursday through Sunday. Cost is $12 for adults. Children 12 and under are free.
