The Newport Beach local is the newest Analog team rider. Big Wave Charger Dave Stein just signed a new clothing sponsor. The Jaws local is the newest addition to the Notion clothing surf team. Factor 54 has brought on Doug Van Mierlo to its surf team. Look for the 16-year-old San Clemente local to be sporting F54’s newest threads.
Surfboard blank pioneer Harold Walker has teamed up with Ice-9 foam works. Walker Foam has been in the blank business for years, and was very instrumental with the formulation of the high performance blanks of today.

The 2008 Surf Industry Manufacturers Association SIMA awards are taking place on May 16th in Cabo San Lucas. The annual awards ceremony recognizes the surf industry’s most influential brands.
Here are just a handful of the contenders: Rusty Surfboards has been nominated for Surfboard of the Year. Go to www.rusty.com. Vertra Suncare has one nomination. The company’s Shane Dorian Kona Gold Signature sunscreen face stick is up for the Accessory of the year. BodyGlove has two nominations. The Body Glove 3/2 VAPOR and the ECO wetsuit are nominated for two categories, Wetsuit of the Year and Environmental Product of the year. O’neill has been nominated for five SIMA Image awards. The Pyscho 2 for Wetsuit of the year, the Lopez Freak for Men’s Boardshort of the year, the “In It For Life” Men’s Marketing Campaign of the year, Men’s Apparel of the year, and the Mutant Boot Series for Accessory of the year. Future fins is also in the running for Product of the year. The Dave Rastovich/Sea Shepherd Vector Keel fin.
