U.S.A. Surf Team coach Joey Buran has announced all but one starter for May’s ISA Quiksilver World Junior Surfing Championships.
Buran, of Costa Mesa, said the starters were based on four training camps held since the team trials last fall. According to Buran, the starters will be Courtney Conlogue (Santa Ana), Sage Erickson, Amy Nicholl, Andrew Doheny (Newport Beach) , Conner Coffin, Kolohe Andino (Kolohe Andino), Dane Zahn, Nat Young and Dillon Perillo.
There is still one starter and one alternate to be determined in a camp in April in Huntington Beach.
“This team is really deep. Every one of these surfers are elite surfers,” Buran said. Picking the last two will be based on “Who’s working hard and who’s surfing best.”
The WJSC begin May 24 in Hossegor, France.
