Well it looks like one of the most famous big wave surf competitions won’t happen this season. The Quiksilver Big Wave Invitational in Memory of Eddie Aikau official waiting period came to a close today. The holding period began December 1, 2007. The event that’s otherwise known as “The Eddie” requires a minimum of 20-foot surf, Hawaiian scale, which is the equivalent to 30 to 40 foot faces. However, mothernature never provided enough swell for Waimea Bay to do her thing. The 2007-2008 Hawaiian winter officially goes down as the worst winter for waves on record.
