Chris Ward Withdraws from Stop Number 1 of the WCT

February 6th, 2008, 6:33 pm · Post a Comment · posted by Jeff Malanca, contributing writer

Chris Ward won’t be surfing in the 2008 ASP World Championship Tour season opener at Snapper Rocks in Australia. The regular footer from San Clemente is currently facing criminal charges for an alleged altercation outside a Mammoth Lakes bar last month. Ward plans on competing in stop number 2 of the WCT, at Bells Beach in March and also is set to surf in two of the World Qualifying Series events in Australia. The ASP has looked into the incident, but will await the outcome of the court case before making any decisions about whether Ward will be able to continue competing on tour. So far, no court dates have been set.
