Deborah Huffman noticed a dead bird while strolling along the sand in Laguna about noon today, enjoying the unusually warm weather and crystal clear water.
She didn’t think much of it, sat down on the sand to read the Orange County Register, and saw an article about headless
animals found in the past week.
“I went to take another peek and it didn’t have a head,” she said.
The bird – wedged between rocks near a tidepool north of Main Beach – was the seventh headless animal carcass found in the last week on the sand in Laguna Beach.
The bizarre findings have baffled police, who have no idea what the motive is behind the dead animals, which have so far included goats, chickens, and a rooster.
“If it’s some sort of cult, I wish they’d clean up after themselves,” Huffman said.
After Huffman went to the lifeguard headquarters to report the headless bird, animal control officer Joy Falk arrived to the scene to take photos as evidence. After inspecting the bird – its white feathers covered in ants – she determined it was likely a dove.
“It’s really hard to tell,” she said.

MY GOD! If there were ever a reason to outlaw offshore voodoo platforms, THIS IS IT!!!
This is horrible! I don’t understand how people could be so cruel.
Apologies to any practitioners of Voodoo religion by the assumptions of my previous comments .
But we all saw that, “Serpent and the Rainbow” s*** a few years back and we know what you are up to.
So please give our livestock a break.
Thank Christ you don’t know what I look like…
Like I need another Voodoo doll established in my visage…
Sounds like some of the local teens are becoming VERY bored or satanic cults are making a comeback in OC.
Obviously, following Deuteronomy to the very letter, perhaps even expressing regret over certain abominations. Goat and animal sacrificing is making a comeback in conservative Orange County. It is predictable.
