A man was arrested early Monday morning for first-degree residential burglary of celebrity Nicolas Cage’s bayfront Newport Beach home.

The man - identified by police as Robert Dennis Furo of San Pedro –  was wearing nothing except for one of the movie star’s leather jackets, said Newport Beach police spokesman Lt. Craig Fox..

Cage was upstairs with his wife and child, and reported seeing the man standing at the door of a bathroom.
“He was standing there naked – except for the leather jacket,” Fox said.

A guard in a gated community along Bayshore Drive said Cage reported an unknown male subject found inside his home at about 1:30 a.m. 

“Mr. Cage escorted him out of the house without incident,” Fox said. “He did not resist Mr. Cage, nor did he resist the officers.”

Furo, 45, had no weapon on him. The Newport Beach police were on the scene within a few minutes, he said.

The suspect was booked at the Newport Beach jail, and later transported to the Orange County Jail. He was arraigned today for first-degree residential burglary and is being held on $50,000 bail.

Fox said it was unclear whether the suspect knew the home belonged to the movie star - who has appeared films such as “Face/Off,” “Matchstick Men,” and more recently “Ghost Rider.”  

“It’s hard to tell. He may have known that he lived there. Mr. Cage had never seen this person before,” Fox said.
