Beach closure: Aliso Creek

July 20th, 2007, 4:48 pm · 3 Comments · posted by Laylan Connelly, staff writer

beach closureThe Orange County Health Agency closed a portion of Aliso County beach in Laguna today because of a sewage spill.

The beach is closed from 300 feet upcoast and 300 feet downcoast of Aliso Creek.

It’s unclear whether the closure will have an effect on the annual Victoria Skimboards’ World Championship — scheduled to take place Saturday and Sunday  at Aliso Creek Beach.

The contest has been going on since  1976, and the world’s best skimboarders show up here for the event.

“I don’t think it will be shut down, if anything we will move it. We’ll definitly still have it, because there are people coming in from out of town for it,” said Victoria Skimboard employee Brenda Higuera. “We just have to play it by ear.”

Yet another sewage spill. And I cannot smoke a cigarette on a public beach that my hard earned tax dollars help to clean. It’s ridiculous.

  2. Mark Says:

The article doesn’t say what happened to cause yet another sewage spill.

  3. Republican Clowns Says:

Thank you OC Board of Supervisors for poisoning our water. We have the wealthiest county in the nation and the worst beaches.
